On August 6, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi at the Jordanian side’s initiative.

The ministers discussed military and political developments in the Middle East, emphasising the need to cease fire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone and de-escalate tensions in the region as soon as possible. It was highlighted that both Moscow and Amman called on all the parties involved to exercise restraint in order to avoid catastrophic consequences for the entire Middle East.

The parties agreed to maintain regular contacts on current issues on the bilateral and international agenda.
